A classic schooner “Passaat,” which stands for “Tradewinds” in Dutch, is a sailing boat built in 1911 in Holland.

In her over 100 years of history she has had quite a life, starting her career as a pilot schooner at the North Sea. During World War II, she was in German hands spotting for airplanes. After the war, she was returned back to Holland as a part of the war settlement. An engine was installed, the mast was removed, and the she wooden hull was replaced with steel. She then served as a fishing boat for almost 20 years.


In the early 70’s, the yacht was fully refitted as a training sailing vessel, and in the 90’s after another refit, she became a luxury, long term charter ship, sailing out of Antigua.

Passaat sailed in the Caribbean waters between Trinidad and the Virgin Islands for over 10 years with guests on board.

In 2008, the yacht found her home in St Martin and started doing day charters.
